Chocolate Cupcakes

Heavenly Chocolate Cupcakes fortified with AdVitalPowder are high in protein, energy dense, and provide a good source of Vitamin A & D and Calcium.

½ cup (75g) self-raising flour or gluten free self-raising flour

1½ tbsp (15g) cocoa powder

75g butter, at room temperature

½ cup (85g) brown sugar, firmly packed

2 (59g each) eggs

4 scoops AdVital Powder

2 tsp vanilla essence or extract

40g chocolate chips

60mL oil

60mL water, or for gluten free use 40mL water

Icing (30g per cupcake)

⅔ cup (80g) icing sugar

1 tbsp (10g) cocoa powder

100g butter, at room temperature

2 scoops AdVital Powder

2 tbsp (40mL) milk



1Preheat oven to 180°C conventional/160°C fan forced. Place 8 paper patty cases in a (⅓-cup capacity) muffin tin or on a baking tray.

2Sift flour and cocoa. In a separate bowl whisk AdVitalPowder , water and oil until smooth.

3Beat butter and sugar until pale and fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time, adding a little flour mix after each one. Mix in the remainder of flour with AdVital Powder mixture. Fold in vanilla and chocolate chips.

4Divide the mixture between the cupcake cases and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a knife inserted into the centre comes out clean. Leave to cool before icing.


1Whisk AdVital Powder and milk until thick and smooth. Beat in butter, sifted icing sugar and cocoa. Mix with a spoon, adding a little milk at a time until the icing is smooth but still firm enough to hold its shape.

2When the cupcakes have cooled down place the icing into a piping bag and decorate the cupcakes.
